April Lockhart
April Lockhart was born on July 4, 1995. When she was in the seventh grade, she started playing the guitar as well as taking piano classes, which ignited her passion for writing songs. April's first song was Different. She wrote it at 12 years of age. The singer spent much of her time at 14 composing songs and experimenting with the piano. After that, she started taking excursions to write with her father, who lived in NY in New York and LA. April also included additional topics in her song"Take my Hand. These topics included topics for her friends who dealt with things like peer pressure disabilities or even teen suicidal thoughts. Lockhart is also gaining a growing popularity as a lifestyle influencer as well as a spokesperson for the popular brand of clean and natural beauty Ilia. It's true that she was born without a left hand. This is what makes her different. But this isn't the only thing about her. As a result Lockhart's Instagram profile doesn't shy away from her handicap, however it doesn't center around her disability as well. The point? The message? We have many different aspects, that our physical and identity bodies aren't what they appear. Lockhart in a video messages from his Nashville home, says that I don't wish for that to be a part of myself. I'm much greater than the physical person I am. It doesn't impact my day-to-day routine. I do my normal activities and I've adapted to the limitations of my disability. Since it's a an integral part of me It's a topic worthy of talking about. Self-acceptance is a lifelong marathon however Lockhart is a true inspiration on that front. Even so, Lockhart admits to going through periods when she felt uncomfortable with her appearance, and the clothes with arms. She wears whatever she wants and is proud to post pictures of herself dressed in outfits she picks out on social media. Self-love, she says, is a process. "I believe that you'll be in that place," she said. That's true of everyone regardless of the level of insecurity. I think it's vital to surround yourself people who are able to identify and feel your heart.
